USA

My World Walk kicked off from ‘Friendship Circle’ on the Californian coast on September 22, 2018. It was a poignant place to start – a No Man’s Land between Tijuana in Mexico and San Diego in America, with the imposing steel border wall stretching far into the sea.

The American walk included the Joshua Tree National Park in California, the Mojave Desert in Arizona, the Texan Big Empty, BB King’s House in Mississippi (and Kermit the Frog’s!), the hills of Alabama and the salt flats of Georgia.

After 2,677 miles walking the States I reached the wildly atmospheric city of Savannah in Georgia, overlooking the Atlantic, where I was able to sit on the very bench Forrest Gump had perched at the end of the legendary 1994 film. No, I wasn’t able to match his spectacular beard!
